No. of NK Workers, Production Hit Record Highs at Gaeseong Complex

Monthly production figures and the number of North Korean workers at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex have hit record highs.

The Unification Ministry said as of late September there were more than 48-thousand North Korean workers at the complex, the largest number since products were first manufactured there in December 2004.

Monthly output posted a high of 36-million dollars as of late September, up four-point-three-percent compared with August.

The number of North Korean workers and the production level at the complex appears likely to steadily increase as the South Korean government has decided to seek a more flexible policy on the North by separating political matters from economic matters. The South's plans include the renovation of a road for North Koreans that commute to the plant and the addition of commuter buses.
