Sr S-NK Red Cross Officials Could Meet in Geneva

High-ranking officials of the North and South Korean Red Cross may meet in Geneva, Switzerland late in November to discuss family reunions and humanitarian support.

The head of the South Korean Red Cross Yu Jung-geun and secretary general Kim Yong-hyun are allegedly planning on attending a meeting in Geneva from November 22nd to December first. The official said there is a chance that the two officials may hold a meeting with the vice president of North Korea’s Red Cross Paek Yong-ho during their visit.

The official said although there is no schedule for the meeting yet, officials from the two sides will likely have the opportunity to meet during the course of the event.

Prior to that, Kim met with Paek during the 2011 East-Asia Regional Leadership Meeting held in Inner Mongolia in July, where they exchanged opinions on the food situation in North Korea.
