North Korea’s Korean Central Television says the North’s border city of Gaeseong restored the graves of a famous scholar and a gisaeng, or female entertainer, both of which date back to the Joseon dynasty.

The Korean Central Television aired a three-minute video footage on Monday in which it claimed that Gaeseong had restored the 18th century graves of Park Ji-won, a scholar of silhak, or the Realist School of Confucianism, and Hwang Jin-I, a famous gisaeng.

Park was the writer of Yeolha-ilgi, which includes detailed records of Park’s travels and his impressions of Chinese culture.

Hwang was a gisaeng who was famous for her beauty, quick wit as well as sijos, or a form of Korean poetry.
