UM Calls to Wait Patiently for NK's Response

Unification Minister Yu Woo-ik said South Korea will wait patiently for North Korea to take a more active approach to improve inter-Korea relations.

In a recent interview with Yonhap News Agency, Yu said he believes North Korea is reacting passively rather than ignoring South Korea's new measures to soften the North Korea policy.

He said the government will take its time to solidify its position on North Korea policy, while continuing to maintain the initiative.

As to North Korea’s recent threat to turn the Presidential Office into a “sea of fire,” Yu expressed that the statement was inappropriate, and also mentioned not to place much meaning into it.

South Korean government is not considering holding an inter-Korean summit for the time is not right, however, Yu said he will not rule out the possibility.
