Director Im Kwon-taek Receives UNESCO Award

Im Kwon-taek, the director of the Cannes Film Festival's award winning movie 'Chwihwasun' received the Fellini Award from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO established the Fellini Award in 1995 in memory of Italian director Federico Fellini. This is the first time a Korean director has received the UNESCO prize.

At the awards ceremony on Tuesday, Im said he is happy to see international attention on Korean movies grow each year. He went on to say that the screen quota policy has contributed greatly to the increase of Korean movie competition overseas.
