Consortium Bids for 4G Comm. License Rejected

The Korea Communications Commission has rejected two consortiums' bids to apply for a business license in fourth generation (4G) mobile communications.

The commission held a general meeting Friday and announced it decision following deliberations. The communications regulator said both consortiums failed to score a minimum 70 points out of 100 as Internet Space Time posting a 65-point-eight and Korea Mobile Internet recording a 63-point-nine.

Only the three major operators - SK Telecom, Korea Telecom and LG U-Plus - currently compete in the domestic 4G mobile communications market.
