The Federation of Korean Industries and Japan's Federation of Economic Organizations discussed ways to cooperate at a civic level in advancing the conclusion of a free trade agreement between two nations at their 19th meeting held in Tokyo Tuesday. Korean business leaders asked Keidanren to renovate business practices unfriendly to its foreign rivals and improve the distribution structure prior to the FTA conclusion. The Japanese side was sympathized with to the FKI's insistence, but said the problems of business practice and distribution structure are basically not government matters. The two sides also agreed on the need for joint inroads into the fast-growing Chinese market. The meeting was attended by 20 figures including the FKI chairman Kim Kak-choong from the Korean side and 18 people from Japan.
