Cardinal Nicholas Cheong Jin-suk, head of the Seoul Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Korea, has hoped people will live their lives wisely.

In the New Year message on Friday, Cheong said that wise men are those who are humble and grateful for even the slightest bit of happiness.

The cardinal said that God wants us to pursue eternal values rather than seeking immediate gains, adding that wise acts would ultimately bring benefits and peace to the community.
