The Governor of the Sinuiju Special Administrative Region Yang Bin has been arrested for bribery and fraud.

A Beijing daily said the Chinese-born Dutch businessman has been arrested on charges of fraudulent investment contracts, bribery, and illegal use of farm land. Yang Bin has been held under investigation by the Shenyang public authorities for 50 days before being officially arrested on Wednesday.

China's Foreign Ministry and the North Korean embassy in Beijing have not commented on Yang Bin's arrest.

Yang Bin was sworn in last month to govern the Sinuiju Special Administrative Region and has been questioned several times for tax evasion and other illegal business activities.
