North Korea's Kim Jong-un Named

North Korea’s new leader Kim Jong-un has been named the “Supreme Commander” of the North’s military.

North Korean official state media said early Saturday the central committee of the Workers’ Party held a meeting to hand the position to the 20-something heir.

The decision, which now places Jong-un at the head of the North's one-point-two million strong military, comes just 13 days after the death of his father, late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

North Korea said in the statement the decision was in order with the October eighth will. Further details of the will were not disclosed.

The North's Korean Central News Agency also said high ranking officials of the governing body of the state were present at the meeting to name Jong-un “Supreme Commander.”
