S.Korean Auto Sales Rise Last Year

Some of the nation’s automakers say auto sales increased significantly in 2011.

Hyundai Motor on Monday said it sold four-point-05 million vehicles in total last year, up 12-point-three percent from a year ago.

Kia Motors saw its sales rise 19-point-two percent to two-point-54 million units last year, while Ssangyong Motor witnessed its sales jump 38 percent to 113-thousand vehicles.

Ssangyong's exports posted a record high 74-thousand units last year.

However, Renault Samsung Motors saw its sales fall nine percent in 2011. Its exports rose 19 percent, but its domestic sales plunged about 30 percent.
