More Workers Expected at Gaeseong Industrial Complex

More North Korean workers will be able to work at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex. The number of workers at the inter-Korean industrial park has seen no growth since the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

Industry insiders say that an additional 400 workers are expected to be deployed to the industrial complex right after the Lunar New Year holiday in North Korea is over on January 26th.

The number of workers at the complex, which expanded every month, stopped growing since December of last year due to Kim Jong-il’s death.

The number of employees recorded at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex was 48-thousand-700 as of the end of November 2011.

Experts say the quick expansion of workers reflect Pyeongyang’s intentions to maintain smooth operations of the industrial complex.
