Private S. Korean Organization Resume Support for N. Korea

A private South Korean organization is traveling Friday to North Korea for the first time since the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

The Korea Peace Foundation plans to send 180 tons of flour to local schools and nurseries in North Hwanghae Province. The flour was purchased by funding from companies at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.

Fifteen officials at the foundation will visit the industrial complex to deliver the flour and monitor how it is rationed at the schools and nurseries.

South Korea’s Unification Ministry says the resumption of private organizations’ support for North Korea can be seen as a sign that suggests a smooth power transition within the North's regime.
