Two Koreas Agree to Reopen Liaison Offices from Monday

South and North Korea agreed Thursday to reopen inter-Korean liaison offices at the truce village of Panmunjom Monday.

A Unification Ministry official said..Unification Minister Park Jae-kyu and the North's senior cabinet councilor Jon Kum-jin agreed to reopen the offices, which have been closed since 1996, over the telephone from Panmunjom.

In the message, the two Koreas said they will place seven officials, including one of director level, at their respective offices in the Freedom House and Panmungak in the truce village.

Liaison officials from South and North Korea had a separate meeting at Panmunjom Thursday to discuss how to operate the offices.
