Publishers Vow to Foster E-Book Market

The publishing industry has announced that they will actively produce electronic books starting this year in order to foster the domestic e-book market.

E-Korea Publishing Contents, a joint establishment of major publishers, made the statement on Wednesday at a ceremony attended by about 400 officials from the publishing world, bookstores and telecommunications companies.

The firm presented fonts it developed late last year and explained detailed plans for the production and distribution of e-books.

The officials who participated in the ceremony discussed ways to boost the domestic e-book market.

Chairman of the Korea Publisher Society Goh Young-eun said that the publishing world has to open an era in which hard copies and electronic books can coexist in harmony.
