President Kim Dae-jung said Wednesday that the government should place more weight on improving the welfare of the elderly. Speaking at a completion ceremony for Seoul National University's Bundang Hospital in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, Kim said, "The welfare of senior citizens is one of the most important government policies. In particular, the government should make more efforts to care for the health of the elderly." Kim also said, "The opening of this hospital specializing in geriatrics will mark a turning point in the development of the welfare for the elderly."
