N.Korea Leader Kim Jong-un Visits Panmunjom

North Korean state-run media reported on Sunday that North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un had visited Panmunjom straddling the border between the two Koreas.

The report quoted that during his visit, Kim ordered the North Korean guards at Panmunjom to stay on full alert in light of a joint military drill between the U.S. and South Korea.

The young leader was reported to have visited a stone monument of his grandfather, North Korean founder Kim Il Sung, and looked around a meeting spot where the ceasefire treaty between the two Koreas was signed. Kim was quoted as saying that South Korea would be forced to surrender in the event of another fight, not a ceasefire treaty.

The report said Kim was accompanied by military officials, including his uncle Chang Song-thaek, director of the Reconnaissance General Bureau Kim Yong-cheol, and vice foreign minister Kang Sok-ju.
