Rallies Condemning S. Korea Spread Across N.Korea

Anti-South Korea sentiment is spreading across North Korea after the North held a massive demonstration in Pyongyang on Sunday condemning alleged insults against North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his late father Kim Jong-il.

The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of North Korea's ruling Workers' Party, reported Wednesday that farmers held a rally to condemn South Korea in South Hwanghae Province, and North Korean women held a similar rally in Gaeseong City on Tuesday.

The paper said residents of North Pyeongan and Gangwon provinces and members of the Youth League also held rallies.

The rallies held in various regions by different social groups are seen as part of the North’s efforts to enhance solidarity within its society.

The rallies followed after some South Korean media reported that a South Korean military unit in Incheon near Seoul recently posted threatening slogans beneath portraits of Kim Jong-un and his father.
