Japan's Diet Adopts Resolution Protesting NK Rocket Launch

The upper house of in the Japanese Diet has unanimously adopted a resolution condemning North Korea’s plan to launch a long-range rocket next month.

Japan’s Kyodo news agency on Friday reported that the House of Councillors adopted the resolution at a plenary session. The resolution protests the North’s planned launch of the Kwangmyongsong-3 satellite and urges the communist nation to refrain from such a move.

The resolution also stressed that Tokyo will never approve a rocket launch by Pyongyang as the move is an act that disturbs the peace and stability in Japan and Northeast Asia. It called on the Japanese government to produce thorough measures to address the issue and to closely cooperate with the U.S. and South Korea on the North’s plan.
