NK Military Appoints Kim Jong-un as Delegate to Party Conference

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency says North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been appointed by the military as a delegate to an upcoming Workers' Party conference.

Kim is expected to be appointed general secretary of the party during the conference in mid-April in Pyongyang.

The news agency reported the Korean People's Army agreed unanimously to appoint Kim as a delegate during its meeting in Pyongyang Monday. It added the decision reflects the will and desire of all service members of the People's Army.

Former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il was also appointed as a delegate to the Workers' Party conference by the military in August 2010 ahead of the conference the following month.
