Question Design for College Entrance Exam Announced

The state-run Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation has announced basic plans to devise questions for this year’s state-administered college entrance exam.

The institute said some 70 percent of the questions in this year’s College Scholastic Ability Test will be similar to those taught in guide books published and used by the Educational Broadcasting System (EBS).

It explained that exam writers will adjust the difficulty level of questions to ensure that one percent of the total exam applicants get a perfect score in every test category.

The state institute added that its design will allow students to prepare for the exam by studying EBS books and lectures and not placing any dependency on private help.

The institute said the exam writers will do their best to keep the difficulty level of questions predictable and consistent.
