NK to Hold Workers’ Party Conference Next Week

North Korea says its ruling Workers’ Party will convene a conference of its representatives next week.

North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency and Rodong Sinmun reported Monday that the conference will be held on April eleventh in Pyongyang.

North Korea had given an advance notice on February 18th that the ruling party conference would be held in mid-April.

New North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is expected to receive the title of general secretary of the Workers’ Party at the conference. It is the first to be held since the death of late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.
