US Intelligence Expert Says More Activity at N. Korea Launch Site

A U.S. intelligence expert says activity has been detected at North Korea’s rocket launch pad at Tongchang-ri.

IHS Jane's Defense Weekly analyst Allison Puccioni told CNN on Thursday that a new image provided by satellite imagery firm, GeoEye, last Saturday, shows "specific activity" on the pad and its surroundings.

Puccioni said she compared the new image to a GeoEye image from March 28th and found that the gantry on the umbilical tower has changed directions and more vehicles were spotted parked around the launch tower.

Puccioni also said areas around the missile assembly building and another building nearby appear to be resurfaced, explaining the resurfacing could be to prepare for VIP visits to the facility or to accommodate specialized heavy vehicles.
