N. Korean Ruling Party Delegates to Meet on Wednesday

Delegates of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party are gathering for a meeting in Pyongyang on Wednesday for the first time since the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency and the ruling party's official newspaper the Rodong Sinmu announced last week that the conference would be held on Wednesday.

North Korea also gave advance notice on February 18th that the gathering, which is only the fourth of its kind, would convene in mid-April.

New North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is expected to receive the title of general secretary of the Workers’ Party at the conference.
