Bomb Threat Forces Korean Air Jet to Make Emergency Landing

A Korean Air Boeing 777 carrying 149 passengers made an emergency landing at a military airbase on Vancouver Island after receiving a bomb threat.

Canadian media reported that the flight, which took off from Vancouver International Airport at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, made the emergency landing escorted by American fighter jets.

Canada’s CBS said the flight en route from Vancouver to Seoul diverted to a Canadian base after the airline’s call center in the U.S. received the threat.

A Korean Air official at its LA branch said the airline also received a threat the previous day, prompting Canadian federal police to search the aircraft right before takeoff. The search delayed the flight for two hours.
