Obama's Nominee for World Bank Outlines Vision

U.S. President Barack Obama’s nominee for World Bank president, Jim Yong Kim, has outlined his vision for the international institution.

Kim, the current president of Dartmouth College, told the New York Times that he will work to make the bank more inclusive and responsive to the realities of the world.

The nominee dismissed criticism and questions about whether he has enough experience to manage the bank.

Kim also said the World Bank is an institution focused on economic development and poverty alleviation, adding both are so complicated that a single background or a single discipline is not sufficient to tackle these great human problems.

The Times said Kim is likely to get the job, given the longstanding tradition of Europe supporting the White House’s nomination.

The board of the World Bank is set to elect its chief next week.
