An eight-point-six magnitude earthquake struck an area off the west coast of Indonesia on Wednesday afternoon, triggering a tsunami warning for many countries across the Indian Ocean.

But no signs of a tsunami were reported hours after the quake hit.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered 32 kilometers beneath the ocean floor, around 432 kilometers from Aceh Province.

The quake was so strong that buildings were shaken in Singapore and it could be felt in Yangon, Myanmar.
