China’s foreign minister, Yang Jiechi, has called for calm and restraint from the international community regarding North Korea’s failed launch of a long-range missile.

Yang told reporters during a visit to Moscow, Russia for trilateral talks with his Russian and Indian counterparts that China hopes for all related countries to continue communications to retain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Yang emphasized the six-party talks are an effective way to obtain peace and stability in Northeast Asia, noting China would act as a constructive partner with the international community.
