North Korea has reportedly decided to refuse inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in protest of the cancellation of a proposed food aid.

Quoting a diplomatic source, Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun daily reported on Monday that Pyongyang has expressed its intent to withdraw its promise to accept the IAEA inspections on the Yongbyon nuclear facilities. The move comes after Washington had canceled its planned food aid for North Korea following the North’s recent rocket launch.

The paper said that a February deal between the two sides will likely be abandoned. The deal stated that the U.S. would supply a massive food aid package while the North would suspend its long-range missile and nuclear tests and nuclear enrichment programs. Yomiuri added that the broken deal increases the possibility of a third nuclear test by the North.
