North Korea has denounced the UN Security Council's presidential statement condemning the North’s rocket launch last Friday.
North Korea's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that the North fully rejects the Security Council’s statement, calling it “utterly unreasonable." The ministry claimed the council trampled on the North’s legitimate right to launch satellites by issuing the presidential statement.
The ministry said the North will continue to exercise its right to use outer space in line with international laws, which it said have more authority than the Security Council’s resolutions.
The ministry continued that North Korea will no longer be bound by the agreement reached between North Korea and the U.S. on February 29th, since the U.S. broke the accord with what it called “a flagrant act of hostility” against the North.
The ministry added that the North will now be able to take necessary countermeasures, and the U.S. will be held completely accountable for all ensuing consequences.
