Gov't to Make Sports More Accessible to Disabled People

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will spend 54-point-eight billion won to boost disabled people’s participation in cultural, art, sports and tourism activities.

The ministry says the spending is part of the its celebration marking the 32nd anniversary of the National Day of People with Disabilities.

It said it plans to allocate roughly eight-point-one billion won to help disabled become more active in sports in their daily lives. It added another 800 million won will go towards establishing sports teams for the disabled.

The ministry will also increase the number of full-time athletic instructors for disabled people from 172 to 190. The ministry’s other plans include running sports classes for the disabled and providing support for their sports' clubs.
