The sister newspaper of China’s People’s Daily published an editorial on Tuesday calling on North Korea not to engage in any more thoughtless behavior.

The Chinese newspaper said China’s agreement to the UN Security Council’s resolution condemning North Korea is the result of the North following through with a rocket launch despite China's calls to back down. The newspaper added that it was China’s first stern attitude against Pyongyang since the new regime took office.

The editorial stressed that China should move away from appeasing North Korea and establish a clear position regarding the communist regime. It also called for North Korea's change of attitude, saying if North Korea values its relationship with China, it should try to expand mutually beneficial ties and stop rejecting offers to boost bilateral cooperation.
