Institute Publishes White Paper on NK Human Rights

The Korea Institute for National Unification has published its 2012 white paper on human rights in North Korea.

The institute on Friday said that it tried to identify the human rights conditions of North Koreans through in-depth interviews with North Korean escapees who settled in South Korea in light of the limitations to access information on the North.

The institute said that it selected and interviewed 230 North Korean defectors who entered the South last year.

The institute said that the white paper includes analyses and evaluations on public execution, social control, corruption, citizens' rights to food and health, and the prospect of human rights under the Kim Jong-un regime.
