President Lee Myung-bak says it’s time for South Koreans who blindly support the North to change, since South Korea has become an advanced nation and the international community is calling for change in Pyongyang.
President Lee said during his regular Monday broadcast that it is problematic that North Korea is arguing that the sinking of the Cheonan warship and the terrorist attack against former South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan in Myanmar were fabricated by Seoul.
But Lee stressed that it is even more problematic that pro-North South Korean citizens repeat the arguments made by the North.
The president also said that during his recent visit to Myanmar, he witnessed that many countries around the world are competing to normalize relations and invest in Myanmar, after it decided to pursue democratization and open its economy. He said North Korea should follow Myanmar’s footsteps and make new friends to open a new era in its regime.
