KBS to Host 49th ABU General Assembly

The Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) will host the 49th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) from October eleventh to the 17th.

The ABU general assembly, the largest media event in the region, will draw 220 broadcasters from 60 countries under the theme of “Beyond the Wave.”

The ABU 2012 Seoul will discuss major issues such as joint production, sports broadcasting and technical cooperation.

The ABU super panel session, an open event, will provide an opportunity to compare perspectives from global media experts. A women’s media forum, jointly organized by the International Telecommunication Union, ABU and KBS, will also be held.

The ABU 2012 Seoul will also feature other special events such as the ABU Radio Song Festival and a TV song festival. Amateur Singers from ten countries will compete with their original songs in the radio contest and top professional singers from 12 Asian countries will join the TV festival.
