Gov't to donate US$10 mln to debt-burdened countries

South Korea decided Thursday it will donate US$10 million dollars to the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Trust Fund for the first time. The US$2.5 billion dollar fund, which is raised by 24 advanced countries, provides debt relief to eligible HIPCs on debts owed to participating multinational financial organizations. Meanwhile, the government also vowed to contribute US$13.5 million dollars to the African Development Fund.
