North Korea has reportedly held a ceremony in Pyongyang to mark naming its leader Kim Jung-un Marshal.
The North’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Friday that in the celebratory event held on Thursday in Pyongyang, North Korean parliamentary leader Kim Yong-nam delivered to Kim Jong-un a letter stating that the Central Committee, the Central Military Commission and the National Defense Commission of the ruling Workers’ Party and the standing committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly have decided to award Kim the title.
Then Secretary Choe Tae-bok of the Party’s Central Committee and top military official Yun Dong-hyun adopted a related resolution after making speeches on behalf of the party, military, labor class, farmers and students.
The celebratory event was attended by most of North Korean top officials at the party and military including North Korean Premier Choe Yong-rim, head of the party's Political Bureau Choe Ryong-hae and vice chief of the National Defense Commission Jang Song-thaek.
