North Korea plans to broadcast this year’s London Olympic Games supported by the Asian-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).
ABU Chairman Kim In-gyu told reporters at the Beijing International Airport on Thursday that he met with Cha Seung-soo, Chairman of North Korea’s Chosun Central Broadcasting Committee.
ABU will provide broadcasting rights of the Olympics to the Chosun Central Broadcasting Committee, as well as necessary resources to produce and televise the contents. Pyongyang has agreed to pay a small amount of broadcasting fees by the end of this month.
Chairman Kim In-gyu who stopped by Beijing from his three-day visit to Pyongyang showed ABU’s support for North Korea which will enable the communist country to broadcast high quality contents.
International Olympic Committee President Jaques Rogge welcomed the decision. He said the North will be provided with three-thousand hours of contents during the Olympic Games.
