North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended a music performance with his wife Ri Sol-ju on Thursday, according to state media.
The North's Korean Central News Agency reported Friday that the first couple took in the concert held at a Pyongyang theater featuring a music band of the North's Internal Security Forces. The performance was held to celebrate the 59th anniversary of the Korean War armistice agreement.
This is the second time North Korean media have mentioned the name of Kim Jong-un’s wife, after identifying her for the first time on Wednesday when the two attended an event marking the completion of an amusement park.
The news agency also confirmed that Hyon Yong-chol, who replaced Ri Yong-ho as the new chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, has been appointed to the post of vice chairman of the ruling Workers' Party's Central Military Commission.
Kim Kyong-hui, Secretary for Organization of the Workers' Party, and vice chairmen of the National Defense Commission Jang Song-thaek and Kim Yong-chun also attended the performance.
