Civic group representatives protested Thursday against the police raid of a downtown demonstration mourning the deaths of teenage girls run over by U.S. military vehicle and vowed to continue with their rallies at the same place. Leaders of the group calling itself a "pan-national committee on the teenage girls's death" said in a news conference they will start a one-man demonstration to protest the raid while continuing their vigils. Police authorities reiterated they will no longer allow rallies by civic groups. The Seoul Metropolitan Government had asked police to clear a public park at Gwanghwamun, central Seoul, where unionists and activists were in protest Wednesday following a prayer meeting by religious groups. Police went in at 6 a.m. to break up the demonstration.
