Jang Sung-taek to Call for China's Investment in NK's Hwanggeumpyeong Island

Chinese sources say North Korea’s vice chairman of the National Defense Commission Jang Song-taek is currently visiting Jilin after having toured Liaoning Province.

During his meeting with officials in Shenyang, Jang is expected to ask for the local Chinese government’s active support in developing infrastructure and investing in the North’s Hwanggeumpyeong Island and the Rason Economic Trade Zone.

Chinese sources predict that Jang may move from Shenyang to Dandong to look into China’s effort into the two North Korean investment zones.

Other sources say Jang, who is the uncle of North Korea's leader, Kim Jong-un, will go back to Beijing Thursday evening to meet with President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao on Friday.
