President of American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Korea, William Oberlin has predicted an early peaceful resolution of the North Korea nuclear crisis in the hope U.S companies will soon begin doing business in the communist country. In a press conference to mark his inauguration as AMCHAM president, Oberlin said he will try to get across the message in the United States that South Korea is a good place to do business despite the current nuclear crisis. Oberlin, president of Boeing International Corp., also pledged to put all his efforts into making sure visa interviews for Koreans wishing to enter the United States will not be expanded. In the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S., the Bush administration has been pushing to strengthen the visa interview requirements for all foreigners. Currently, 65 percent of Koreans, who apply for a U.S. visa, are exempt from the interview.
