Two Koreas Discuss Joint Ceremony for Road Repair Completion

The South Korean government is discussing with North Korea holding a joint ceremony to mark the upcoming completion of road repairs at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.

A spokesman for South Korea’s Unification Ministry told a news briefing Monday that since the Gaeseong Industrial Complex is an inter-Korean joint venture, it is proper to hold a joint ceremony.

The two Koreas are discussing the scale and date of the ceremony as the repairs are expected to be finished by late this month or early next month.

As part of its appeasement policies toward North Korea, the Unification Ministry has been repairing the roads and expanding a bus stop at Gaeseong since last November with three-point-one billion won in the inter-Korean cooperation fund. North Korean workers use the road to commute to and from the industrial park.
