N. Korean Official Criticizes S. Korea-U.S. Joint Military Drill

China’s Xinhua News says North Korean parliamentary leader Kim Yong-nam strongly denounced a recently completed South Korea-U.S. military drill at the 16th Nonaligned Movement Summit (NAM) in Iran.

Xinhua said Kim warned at the summit that the joint military drills between South Korea and the U.S. are pushing the Korean peninsula to the brink of war.

The news agency reported that Kim’s criticism was targeted at the recent Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise that started on the 20th and wrapped up Friday.

Kim Yong-nam added that he is ready to cooperate with any country that will work towards the reunification of the two Koreas.
