KBS World Begins HD Programming

KBS World viewers can now catch their favorite programs in high definition(HD) around the world.

KBS held a ceremony marking the conversion to HD programming from standard definition TV at the KBS Media Center in Seoul on Tuesday.

The new HD programming will be provided to Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe and America.

KBS World, the overseas television service of the Korean Broadcasting System, has a viewership of 200 million people in 73 countries. The channel first launched services in 2003 and has played a key role in promoting hallyu, or the Korean Wave, which refers to the popularity of Korean pop culture.
