N. Korea Won't Send Delegation to Funeral of Unif. Church Founder

A car company owned by the Unification Church says North Korea won't be sending a condolence delegation to South Korea for the funeral of church founder Moon Sun-myung.

Pyeonghwa Motors Corporation CEO Park Sang-kwon told reporters that Pyongyang apparently believes it would be inappropriate to send a delegation since North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ust last month denounced the South Korea-U.S. combined military exercises. Park made the remark on Thursday, one day after he returned from his trip to North Korea.

He also said that he believes the North will convey some kind of condolence in two or three days, considering Moon was born in what is now North Korea and that the Unification Church engaged in many inter-Korean projects.

During his trip to North Korea, Park said North Korean officials urged the Unification Church to put more effort into establishing inter-Korean projects. Park projected that Moon’s death is unlikely to affect the church’s projects in the North.
