Flour Aid Package to be Delivered to Flood-Stricken N. Korea

For the first time this year, flour will be delivered to North Korea next Monday to support the flood-stricken reclusive state.

The Unification Ministry approved a development and advocacy group’s plan to send 500 tons of flour to support flood-damaged North Korea, totaling 250 million won worth in relief aid. Seoul’s green light for the relief package comes after the group, World Vision, had set up the aid’s distribution plans with Pyeongyang.

World Vision will deliver the flour to Gaeseong through the Inter-Korean Transit Office in Dora Mountain on Monday, which will then be distributed to the city of Anju and Kaecheon in South Pyeongan Province.

The Unification Ministry also approved another humanitarian aid from private South Korean group Seomgim, which calls for the transfer of 30 million won worth of bread ingredients to North Korea.
