Russia Says Projects with South and North Korea Moving Forward

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that the trilateral cooperation projects agreed upon among Russia and the two Koreas are moving ahead with no delays.

Russia’s Itar-Tass News Agency reported that Minister Lavrov, who took part in the APEC foreign and trade ministers’ meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, said during a press conference that he is interested in implementing the trilateral projects. He noted that working-level talks regarding the projects are already under way.

The projects mentioned by Lavrov include plans to establish a gas pipe from Russia to South Korea that passes through North Korea to supply Russian natural gas to Seoul. Power lines would also be built on the same route to provide Russia’s surplus power to the two Koreas, and the Trans-Siberian Railway would be connected with the Trans-Korea Railway.
