North Korea Offers Condolences to late Unification Church Founder

Late founder of the Unification Church, Moon Sun-myung, was given a “National Reunification Prize” from North Korea, and a wreath was also given to express North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s condolences.

The North's state-run Korea Central TV said a ceremony had been held at the Mansudae Grand Monument to dedicate the prize to late Moon. The prize was received by Moon’s seventh son, Moon Hyung-jin, who had attended the ceremony in North Korea on Friday.

The North Korean broadcaster also reported that Vice Chairman of the National Defense Commission, Jang Song-thaek, and secretary of the Workers’ Party, Kim Yang-gon, had expressed their condolences at an incense alter prepared at the World Peace Center in Pyongyang. A wreath was handed to Moon Hyung-jin at a funeral alter for his late father in Kim Jong-un’s name.

Moon Hyung-jin is expected to return to Seoul through the entry point in Paju on Saturday.
