S.Korea to Push for Flood Aid for N. Korea

A South Korean government official says Seoul will work to smoothly reach an agreement with North Korea to provide aid to flood victims in the North.

The official’s remarks follow North Korea’s request that South Korea notify the North of the list of supplies it would provide and the volume of assistance. Pyongyang made the request in a response to Seoul’s proposal to send food aid on September third.

The South Korean official added that the government is holding internal discussions on the items and scale of food aid.

The official explained that the kind of aid and its quantity are the most important factors concerning flood assistance between the two Koreas. He said South Korea will make efforts to reach an agreement with the North.
